Khorinis - Lower Quarter

The Lower Quarter is the bustling heart of Khorinis, where craftsmen, merchants, and ordinary citizens go about their daily work. It encompasses the marketplace, the merchant lane, the temple square, and the gallows square. At the marketplace, traveling traders like Hakon, Sarah, Baltram, Jora, and Canthar sell their goods, while the herb merchant Zuris and the Fire Mage Daron can also be found there. Along the merchant lane stand the workshops of the respected master craftsmen: the blacksmith Harad with his apprentice Brian, the bowyer Bosper, the carpenter Thorben with his niece Gritta, the alchemist Constantino, and the merchant Matteo with his apprentice Rupert. Anyone wishing to start an apprenticeship needs the approval of at least four of the five masters. Coragon's tavern "The Jolly Pig" and Hanna's inn "The Sleeping Moneybag" – beneath which hides the entrance to the thieves' guild's sewers – offer travelers lodging and food. At the temple square, the Water Mage Vatras preaches the faith of Adanos to the citizens, while at the gallows square the herald proclaims the paladins' decrees as travelers help themselves at the free beer stand or press gold coins into the seer Abuyin's hand for a prophecy. The militia soldier Pablo dutifully patrols the streets, Regis from the mainland drifts about with surprising knowledge of the city, the hunter Bartok hangs around near Coragon's tavern, and the insufferable Valentino drinks there every evening until he staggers back to the Upper Quarter in the early morning hours.
