Merchants

The merchants of Khorinis form the economic backbone of the city – master craftsmen, traveling traders, and shopkeepers who bring the marketplace and lower city to life with their goods. The respected master craftsmen include the blacksmith Harad, the bowyer Bosper, the carpenter Thorben, the alchemist Constantino, and the trader Matteo, who collectively decide on accepting new apprentices and wield considerable influence in the city. At the marketplace, traveling merchants like Hakon, Sarah, Baltram, and Jora offer their wares, all lodging at Hanna's inn at the paladins' expense. In the Upper Quarter reside wealthy dealers such as the overseas trader Fernando, the artifact merchant Lutero, and the alchemist Salandril. Since the paladins arrived, the merchants have suffered from confiscations and the collapse of maritime trade. The farmers no longer deliver, prices are rising, and times are growing harder. Some merchants resort to shady dealings – Fernando supplies bandits with weapons, Canthar schemes to eliminate competitors, and Salandril sells forged mining shares.
