Constantino

Constantino is an old, grumpy alchemist in the lower city of Khorinis who practices his craft with equal parts skill and reluctance. Since his last apprentice poisoned himself, he has sworn never to train another – making it all the more difficult to study under him. Those who try must first bring him a complete collection of the island's most important plants to prove their botanical knowledge. As a master craftsman, Constantino holds influence in the city, and his approval is required for anyone wishing to apprentice with another master in the lower city. He teaches the art of alchemy – from simple healing essences to rare elixirs of strength – and buys plants and mushrooms. He is particularly fond of dark mushrooms, which carry magical energy within them, a secret he is reluctant to share. His valuable ring makes him a target of the thieves' guild, who send their initiates to steal it as an admission test.
