Rupert

Rupert is the apprentice of the merchant Matteo and usually stands in front of his master's shop by the south gate of the lower city of Khorinis, selling foodstuffs and occasionally sweeping the forecourt. Since working for Matteo, the people in the city treat him with respect. He readily offers tips to newcomers: he points to the master craftsmen along the main street as the city's most influential figures and recommends that job seekers check with Bosper, who is having trouble with his supplier. He is well-informed about the farmer uprising and is outraged that the landowner Onar refuses to pay tribute in the middle of the orc war and has even hired mercenaries – reportedly former convicts led by a disgraced general – to keep the city guard at bay.
