Novices of Fire

Novices live at the Monastery of Innos in Khorinis and form the lowest rank of the monastery hierarchy. Their daily life consists of brewing beer, tending the garden and cleaning - in short, everything the mages do not want to do themselves. Magic plays no role in their lives at first. Only selected novices are granted access to the library and with it the chance to take the Trial of Fire and rise to become a Fire Mage. Most will never get that far. The novice path is the most demanding entry in the game. Since the goal is to be ready to learn spells and craft runes immediately after passing the trial, learning points must be consistently directed toward mana and saved with discipline. Investments in strength, dexterity or melee weapons cost time and resources that will be needed later.
