Thorben

Thorben is a carpenter and one of the respected master craftsmen in the lower city of Khorinis. He builds cabinets, chests, and above all locks – and since he makes his own locks, he is also an expert at picking them. He teaches this skill to others for a fee, provided he considers them decent folk. Thorben is a deeply religious man who requires every aspiring apprentice to receive the blessing of both an Innos priest and an Adanos priest. His nephew Elvrich served as his apprentice but one day disappeared without a trace – kidnapped by bandits and taken to Jharkendar. Thorben's niece Gritta keeps his household but causes him endless trouble with her debts to nearly every merchant in town. He had to borrow 200 gold coins from the moneylender Lehmar to cover her debts – and later discovered she had stolen another 100 gold coins from his chest.
