Farmers
The farmers of Khorinis supply the entire island with food – wheat, turnips, sheep, and timber. Five farms are scattered across the valley: the powerful estate of the landowner Onar in the east, the smaller tenant farms of Bengar and Sekob, and the city-adjacent farms of Akil and Lobart. Since the fall of the Barrier and the arrival of the paladins, the farmers stand on the brink of civil war. Onar has openly defied the king, refusing taxes and supplies to the city, while the militia plunders the smaller farms with increasing boldness instead of protecting them. Farmers who don't side with Onar are caught between the lines – too close to the city to rebel, but too far away to hope for protection. Monsters from the Valley of Mines, bandits in the mountains, and dwindling safety on the field paths make life outside the city walls ever more dangerous. Most farmers are simple, hardworking folk who just want to be left in peace to tend their fields.
