Lobart

Lobart is a grumpy elderly farmer who owns the farmstead closest to the city, south of Khorinis. Together with his farmhands he tends two wheat fields and a turnip field, his wife Hilda cooks for the crew, and the shepherd Maleth watches over the sheep. The farm's proximity to the city leaves him no real choice in the conflict between the king and the rebellious farmers – though he admits he wouldn't know which side to pick anyway. The king bleeds the farmers dry while Onar sends his mercenaries after anyone who won't join him. Lobart's troubles never seem to end: field raiders plague his harvest, the city guard has stolen half his sheep, his farmhands accidentally activated a stone guardian at the stone circle, his wife keeps falling gravely ill, Seekers abduct his farmhand Vino, and eventually even orcs raid his land. He does hire day laborers – for turnip pulling, fieldwork, and other menial tasks – but the pay is notoriously miserable: five gold coins or a discount on used peasant clothing.
