Okyl

Okyl is a mercenary of the Water Mages and the commander of the cauldron and the Free Mine itself - the hardest man the New Camp has, with connections to everyone who matters there. Once a guardsman of the Old Camp, he survived a shadowbeast ambush in the wilderness alongside Scar only by leaping from a cliff into water, where a New Camp patrol hauled him out; a successful trial job with Lares saw him sworn into their ranks. Nobody enters his mine without his word, and anyone who tries it anyway he marks for death - he wears heavy mercenary plate and the two-handed battle axe Warrior's Voice. When Gomez sends his guards over the secret mountain pass, the raid catches Okyl and his men in the cauldron and they die where they stand.
