The Way to the Upper Quarter
After arriving in Khorinis, the merchant Rupert at the southern city gate tells the hero that he needs to gain access to the Upper Quarter. There are two ways to achieve this: becoming an apprentice in Khorinis (quest 'Apprentice in Khorinis') or joining a guild (Militia, Fire Mages, or Mercenaries).

Walkthrough
Talk to Rupert at the southern city gate in the Lower Quarter. He tells you to find a way into the Upper Quarter.
There are two paths:
1. Become an apprentice in Khorinis (see quest 'Apprentice in Khorinis')
2. Join a guild: Militia, Fire Mages, or Mercenaries
Once you have access, talk to the guards and Lothar at the gate to the Upper Quarter to complete the quest.
