Alone and Defenseless
When the hero returns to Bengar's Farm in Chapter 3, Bengar is completely alone. Malak has fled into the mountains with all the farmhands, unable to bear the hordes of monsters pouring through the pass from the Valley of Mines any longer. Bengar is desperate — without workers or protection, he will have to abandon the farm. He mentions that a mercenary named Wolf at Onar's Farm once wanted to work for him but never did. The hero must hire Wolf to protect the farm and then convince Malak to return with the workers. Wolf's price depends on the hero's guild — between 300 and 800 gold. As a Fire Mage or Water Mage, Malak does not grant experience points when spoken to.
Rewards
1500 XP total (300 XP for hiring Wolf, 700 XP from Malak, 300 XP + 200 XP from Bengar) + 400 gold. Costs 300–800 gold to hire Wolf depending on guild. As a mage, Malak's 700 XP are not awarded (total: 800 XP).
Walkthrough
Go to Onar's Farm and talk to Wolf. He agrees to work at Bengar's farm for a fee that depends on your guild:
- Mercenary or Dragon Hunter: 300 gold
- Militia or Paladin: 500 gold
- Fire Mage: 800 gold
Pay him and Wolf heads to Bengar's Farm (300 XP).
Next, find Malak. He is hiding in a small valley near Grom's camp with the other farmers. Tell him that the farm is now protected by a mercenary. He agrees to return (400 XP + 300 XP). Note: As a mage, Malak does not grant any experience points.
Return to Bengar and report that you have arranged the mercenary he wanted. He rewards you with 400 gold (300 XP). When Malak arrives back at the farm, Bengar grants an additional 200 XP.
