Ratford

Ratford is a bandit hunter of the New Camp who works the stretch of the Valley of Mines between the Old Camp and the exchange platform, mostly hunting scavengers side by side with his mate Drax. He is a friendly man for a bandit, hails every traveller who turns onto their trail with a "watch yourself, this is our patch", and hands out practical advice whenever a newcomer asks - how to stay alive between camps, where to buy a map, which paths end in cul-de-sacs full of beasts. He talks up the New Camp as the cheaper place to kit up and drops Mordrag's name as the man to ask for when the hero passes through the Old Camp. The serious killing work he leaves to Drax.
