Drax is one of Lares' hunters, stationed out in the Valley of Mines in the rough camp that Ratford keeps running north of the Old Camp. He makes his coin off the butcher-work the hunters do between the two camps and, for a handful of ore, teaches the hero the full range of field skills: pulling teeth from wolves and shadowbeasts, skinning for pelts, cutting claws off lizards without snapping them, and taking hides off lurkers and swamp sharks. He is a practical, gruff teacher - more interested in the next kill than in whoever is buying the lesson today.
