Ulthar

Ulthar is the oldest mage at the Monastery of Khorinis and a member of the High Council alongside Pyrokar and Serpentes. A calm, kind, old, and wise man, he proclaims the will of Innos and names the chosen novices for the Test of Magic. During the Trial of Fire, he tasks the novice with creating a Fire Arrow rune – a feasible but instructive challenge compared to Serpentes' deadly task. Ulthar warns the novice that impatience will not pass the Trial of Fire and reminds him that only Serpentes has ever survived it. When the Seekers cursed several of Innos' prayer shrines, Ulthar personally consecrated water against the spell and tasked paladins or the hero with cleansing the desecrated shrines. Despite the alarming news of dragons in the Valley of Mines, he counsels prudence – rash actions would accomplish nothing; one must verify the words before taking steps.
