Garwig

Garwig is a Novice of Fire who serves as guardian of the holy artifacts in the monastery's cellar. He watches over two of the most important relics of the Church of Innos outside the imperial capital: the divine Hammer, with which the holy Rhobar once shattered a stone guardian, and the Shield of Fire, carried by the paladin Dominique in the battle on the southern islands and nailed to the wall so its power may never be used again. Garwig claims that Innos grants him the power to never sleep – a conviction he holds with absolute fanaticism. He reacts indignantly to any offer of relief, suspecting it to be a test from the mages. Nevertheless, during the Trial of Fire, a novice managed to put him to sleep with a spell and steal the holy Hammer – though it was soon returned to its place.
