Dyrian

Dyrian is a novice at the Monastery of the Fire Mages who has broken the community's rules. While cleaning the mages' chambers, he secretly took a book to read in his own room. When Master Hyglas asked about the missing book, Dyrian lied out of fear of punishment. Hyglas later caught him red-handed and reported the matter to the High Council, which has been deliberating on whether Dyrian may remain in the monastery. In his desperation, he asks the hero for help: he offers a valuable Sleep scroll that can put people into magical slumber for a short time. In return, the hero – should he pass the Trial of Fire and receive the Right of the First Act – is asked to use his wish to let Dyrian stay in the monastery. If not helped, Dyrian ends up as a bitter drunk in the tavern, blaming the hero for his ruined life.
