Agon

Agon is an arrogant and ruthless novice at the Monastery of the Fire Mages and the nephew of Governor Larius. He is heavily favored by the archmages and considers his path to becoming a mage to be preordained by Innos. He seeks no fellowship with the other novices – they only stand in his way. When he caused root rot in the monastery garden's fire nettles by overwatering, he blamed the novice Babo, who was subsequently reassigned from garden duty. During the Test of Magic, which determines admission to the Fire Mages, Agon reveals his true nature: regardless of who reaches the hiding spot first, he attacks the hero from behind to seize victory by force. He is killed in the resulting duel.
