Wedge is the thief of Lares' bandits and the man who turns newcomers into useful sneak-thieves. He waves the hero over the moment he walks into the living cave of the New Camp, sizes him up as fresh meat, and offers to teach him three disciplines of the trade: moving silently, picking locks up to master level, and lifting purses without a hand left empty. He also passes on the single most practical survival tip in the cave - stay away from Butch, who likes to welcome new arrivals with his fists. His teaching fee is paid in learning points, but the lesson about Butch is free.
