Kharim

Kharim is a mercenary of the New Camp who fights in the arena of the Old Camp under Scatty - bouts between mercenaries and guards are among the most-bet-on spectacles inside the Barrier. He counts as one of the best fighters in the colony and leaves the ring a winner more often than not, which makes him Scatty's flagship draw. The hero defeats him after a bitter duel, impressing Scatty deeply and earning a pivotal voice for admission as a Shadow. When the Old Mine collapses and the Fire Mages are murdered, Kharim is cut down by the enraged outer-ring mob together with every other non-member of the Old Camp.
