Gilbert

Gilbert is a former digger of the Old Camp who walked away from the mine and walled himself into a cave high up in the rocks behind the castle. He had enough of Gomez's people a long time ago and counts on the elevation and the distance to keep him forgotten. He gets very little traffic up here and greets the hero with a mix of surprise and grudging respect for having actually found the hideout, but he is clear about one thing: the Old Camp still has too many fools in it for him to ever go back. He will stay in the rocks. After the Barrier falls he leaves a short note in the cave announcing that he is walking home, and disappears out of the valley.
