Balam

Balam is one of the kitchen cooks in the Castle of the Old Camp, working under Bartholo's supervision to feed the guards and - more dangerously - the Ore Barons themselves. It is a brutal assignment: Gomez does not tolerate bad food, and the last two cooks who disappointed him were fed to the snappers in the river. Balam has no armor and defends himself only with a Peasant Sword if trouble reaches the pantry. His fate after the fall of the Barrier is unknown.
