Thorus

Thorus is a warrior whose path has crossed with the hero since the days of the Barrier. In the penal colony, he rose to become the leader of the guard in the Old Camp after rebelling against the wardens alongside Gomez. Under his command, the guard protected the ore barons, the ore, the camp, and the mine. He ran a strict regiment and decided who was permitted entry to the castle – outsiders needed either 1,000 ore for a bribe, the backing of a sponsor like Diego, or a special errand. He secretly tasked the hero with removing the bandit Mordrag, who was selling stolen goods in the camp under the protection of the Fire Mages – a problem Thorus couldn't solve himself without angering the mages. He trained his fighters in two-handed combat and strength, and his approval was essential for anyone seeking to join the guard or be presented to Gomez.

After the fall of the Barrier, Thorus followed Raven to Jharkendar, where he controlled access to the gold mine in the bandit camp using the red stone token system devised with Esteban. No one passed without a red stone – not even old acquaintances from the colony. He remained loyal to the rules above all, even when he disagreed with the actions of Raven and Bloodwyn. But as the hero dismantled the camp's power structure – killing Esteban and then Bloodwyn – Thorus began to see the writing on the wall. He tasked the hero with sending three new diggers into the mine to replace those killed by minecrawlers, then granted passage to the upper level. When the hero confronted him about the kidnapped citizens from Khorinis, Thorus hinted that a rescue would be possible once Bloodwyn was out of the picture – and after Bloodwyn fell, he allowed the prisoners to leave unharmed. After the death of Raven, Thorus took over leadership of the remaining bandits, reflecting on what their community had become and what it still needed: someone to hold it together. He wished the hero well, knowing their paths would cross again – at one of the many gates and passages the hero would pass through.
