Snaf

Snaf is a cook who has been feeding people since the days of the Barrier, where he worked in the outer ring of the Old Camp preparing meals for everyone. His signature dish is the infamous Meatbug Ragout à la Snaf, made from meatbugs and hell mushrooms. The guard Nek was sent to collect mushrooms for him but never returned – Snaf suspected he defected to the New Camp. The hero took over the errand, and once the ingredients were delivered, Snaf offered three daily portions of his ragout. After the fall of the Barrier, Snaf followed Raven to Jharkendar and set up the only tavern in the bandit camp, with Lucia as his sole employee. There he experiments with a new recipe – "Fire Strips in Hammer Sauce" – combining crispy meat with pickled fire herbs and a sauce made from the powerful spirit of the bandit cook Lou. The hero brews the spirit at the alchemy table and Snaf creates the dish, which permanently increases physical strength. As a tavern keeper, Snaf hears everything but never takes sides. During the investigation into the assassination attempt on Esteban, he serves as the hero's most valuable source of information – for 10 gold pieces per tip, he shares his read on every suspect: Paul doesn't like Esteban since he started working for Huno, Emilio wouldn't bring flowers to his grave, Finn is favored by Esteban for his mining skills, and Fisk just pays his share and minds his business. He also guides the hero's strategy – pointing out that the mastermind is watching, and if the hero appears to work for Esteban, the conspirator will never reveal himself. When Huno finally connects the hero to Fisk, Snaf directs the hero upstairs to meet his contact. After the death of Esteban, business is booming. After the orc invasion of Khorinis, the surviving humans were transported to the mainland on orc galleys and given a choice between slavery or serving as orc mercenaries – what became of Snaf is unknown.
