Miguel
Miguel is a bandit in the swamps outside the bandit camp of Raven in Jharkendar, and the former apprentice of the alchemist Ignaz in Khorinis. During his apprenticeship, he specialized in potions that affect the mind. One evening, Ignaz accidentally drank one of his experiments instead of his wine, which left the alchemist temporarily unhinged and permanently confused. The mages had Miguel thrown into the Barrier for "research into forbidden knowledge." After the fall of the Barrier, he made his way to Jharkendar via the pirates, but since he arrived late and was not one of the original men of Raven, he was stuck in the swamp waiting to be called into the camp – which only happened when diggers died to minecrawlers or the bandits killed each other. He spends his time gathering plants in the marsh – healing herbs and swampweed stalks that can be smoked – and sells potions and herbs to earn his gold, though he has no time to teach alchemy properly. His expertise in mind-altering potions proves crucial when the hero needs to restore the shattered memory of Fortuno, the former servant of Raven. Miguel provides the recipe for the Elixir of Mind Alteration, warning that any mistake in the brewing process or wrong ingredient would make the potion lethal. After the orc invasion of Khorinis, the surviving humans were transported to the mainland on orc galleys and given a choice between slavery or serving as orc mercenaries – what became of Miguel is unknown.
