The False Messenger
The quests 'Baltram's Delivery' and 'The False Messenger' share the same setup but differ in their conclusion. Nagur at the harbour tavern in the Harbour District offers the hero a job: intercept Baltram's delivery from the farmer Akil and bring it to Nagur instead. This is the dishonest path that opens the way into the Thieves' Guild. However, as a mercenary or Dragon Hunter, Baltram will refuse to trade with the hero afterwards until compensated with 10 hams and 10 bottles of wine.

Walkthrough
Go to the harbour tavern in the Harbour District and ask innkeeper Kardif about work, then about special work. He points you to Nagur.
Talk to Nagur. Make sure to tell him you want to split "fifty-fifty" to get more gold as reward. He tells you that Baltram, the merchant at the marketplace, is looking for a new courier.
Go to Baltram at the marketplace in the Lower Quarter. He sends you to the farmer Akil to pick up a delivery.
Travel to Akil and collect the delivery.
Bring the delivery to Nagur instead of Baltram. Wait until the next day to receive your reward (100 XP + 120 gold).
Note: As a mercenary or Dragon Hunter, Baltram will refuse to trade with you afterwards. Bring him 10 hams and 10 bottles of wine to restore his trading.
