The Easy Way to the Mercenaries
Lares tells the hero to ask Cord about joining the mercenaries. After speaking with Lares, the hero can approach Cord about the Ring of Water. Cord offers to take care of Torlof's test (Drive Off the Militia or Collect Rent) on the hero's behalf, skipping that step entirely. In return, Cord wants the hero to go to Dexter's camp and ask about Patrick. Cord provides Dexter's name. After speaking with Dexter, the hero reports back to Cord with the information. This quest also connects to Wanted Posters and Bandits.

Walkthrough
1. Speak to Lares. He tells you to ask Cord about joining the mercenaries.
2. Talk to Cord on Onar's farm and mention the Ring of Water.
3. Cord agrees to handle Torlof's test for you. In return, go to Dexter's bandit camp and ask about Patrick.
4. Find and speak to Dexter (100 XP).
5. Return to Cord and tell him what you learned (300 XP).
