Herek

Herek is a digger of the Old Camp and one of its most violent men - thrown through the Barrier for murdering twelve people in a single night, simply for the sake of it. After a conversation with Bloodwyn about the hero's refusal to pay protection money, Herek decides the camp is not big enough for the two of them and openly picks a fight, arguing that the other diggers now have to cover the unpaid share and deserve to see the refuser properly beaten. The attack ends with Herek on the ground; in the chaos after the Old Mine collapses his ultimate fate slips away with the rest of the camp's unaccounted-for men.
