Grimes

Grimes is an Old Camp digger working in the Old Mine and the oldest survivor in the shaft - ten years in the colony, with stories from the day the Abandoned Mine's support beams snapped and buried half his crew. He greets every new face at the pit with a weary "new face, kid - ever dug ore before?" and flatly dismisses any talk of escape: he has seen the look on the faces of those who tried the Barrier, and the Barrier always stops them. He advises the Nameless Hero to accept life underground and climb the ranks instead.
