Xardas
Xardas is the former supreme Fire Mage of the empire of Myrtana and one of the most powerful men in the known world. To uncover the truth behind the failed Barrier, he left the Circle of Fire and devoted himself to the study of the dark arts – becoming known as the Necromancer and presumed dead by the Fire Mages. As leader of the twelve mages, he had originally created the Barrier over the Valley of Mines, which spiraled out of control due to the Sleeper lurking underground. In his tower in the orc territory, he deciphered the ancient orcish prophecies, recognized the true nature of the Sleeper, and became the mentor of the nameless hero. After the fall of the Barrier, he erected a new tower in the valley of Khorinis, rescued the buried hero, and guided his fate – from the search for the Eye of Innos and the healing of the artifact at the Sun Circle to the dragon hunt in the Valley of Mines. His true goal was revealed on Irdorath: when the hero defeated the undead dragon, Xardas extracted Beliar's divine power from the avatar and absorbed it – not as a servant of the dark god, but to end the eternal war of the gods.
