Udar
Udar is a knight stationed at the castle in the Valley of Mines, assigned together with Sengrath to guard the orc siege ramp – the back entrance through which the hero sneaks into the fortress. He nearly shot the hero on arrival and warns newcomers to watch themselves. Udar is reputed to be the best crossbow marksman in the expedition, and he teaches crossbow skills to those who earn his respect – though he initially tells everyone to practice on the orcs outside. Only after the hero impresses him with confidence does he agree to instruct. His friend Tengron from the mining site of Fajeth sends a magical ring through the hero – an award for bravery in combat meant to give Udar strength and courage during the siege. One night, Sengrath fell asleep on watch and his crossbow dropped from the wall. An orc grabbed it and ran into the darkness. Sengrath chased after it and never came back. Udar sends the hero to find him, but Sengrath is already dead – killed by orcs after retrieving the weapon. The hero returns the crossbow to Udar, who is shattered by the loss. He senses the growing despair in the castle and fears they will all die here. When all four dragons fall, Udar notices the orcs are deeply unsettled – something has given them a terrible fright.
