Rhademes

Rhademes was the son of the mighty warlord Quarhodron and the man responsible for the civil war that sealed the fate of the people of Jharkendar. When his father grew too old to fight and the priest caste demanded his resignation, the warrior caste insisted that Rhademes take command. Quarhodron complied and handed over both his office and the Claw of Beliar to his son. But where his father's mind had been strong enough to resist the influence of the Claw, Rhademes fell under its spell. Corrupted by the dark artifact, he banished or executed all deathguards – the only ones whose connection to the ancestors could threaten the power of the sword. The Council of Five was stripped of its authority and war engulfed Jharkendar. Khardimon, Quarhodron, and the leader of the scholars devised a trap: Quarhodron entered the Temple of Adanos as bait, and Rhademes – blinded by hatred and the will of the Claw – stormed in after him. The trap snapped shut. The council sealed Rhademes alive inside the temple, and the last thing he heard from the outside world were the hammer blows as his father locked the gate behind him. For an eternity, the Claw tormented his imprisoned soul – until Raven opened the temple and became the new bearer of the sword. Freed from the Claw at last, the spirit of Rhademes helped the hero open the final gate to reach Raven. Though he still harbored hatred for his father, his long captivity had partially redeemed him – he urged the hero to sink the Claw of Beliar in the depths of the sea.
