Onar’s farm is the largest estate on the island. The land has been in the family for generations, and Onar inherited it the same way he inherited his opinion of Khorinis: it owes him, not the other way around. When the mercenaries came through after the barrier fell, looking for work and somewhere to sleep, Onar saw the opportunity and took it. Lee’s men now garrison the farm. The city does not like it. Onar does not care.
The arrangement suits both sides. Onar gets protection and leverage. The mercenaries get a base, food, and enough coin to stay. The farm itself is large enough to function almost independently from Khorinis, which is exactly the point. With the Paladins driving taxes up and the supply roads in bad shape, Onar has decided that distance from the city is worth more than cooperation with it. Most of the other farmers on the island are watching to see how that works out.
