Jharkendar
Jharkendar is a hidden valley in the northeast of the island of Khorinis that once housed a vast city of the Builders – a fallen civilization that worshipped Adanos. The valley is accessible only through a portal in the ancient ruins or a treacherous sea route known only to the pirates. The city was governed by the Council of Five – the leaders of the castes of warriors, healers, deathguards, priests, and scholars. Five caste manor houses, a Temple of Adanos, a library, and a network of teleporter stones bear witness to its former grandeur. The downfall began when the warlord Rhademes was corrupted by the Claw of Beliar and plunged the city into civil war. His father Quarhodron trapped him within the temple, but the bloodshed only ended when Adanos in his wrath sent a great flood. Today the valley is divided into several areas: at the center, vegetation overgrows the ruins; to the north stretches a desert-like canyon housing the scholars' library and an orc settlement; in the south lie rugged paths leading to the manor houses of the priests and deathguards; in the east spreads the great swamp, where Raven established his bandit camp near the warriors' manor; and on the western coast lies the pirate camp of Captain Greg. The Water Mages under Saturas studied the Builders' culture while the hero stopped Raven, freed the kidnapped citizens, and seized the Claw of Beliar.
