Ancient Ruins

Nobody built these ruins. Not the people of Khorinis, not their ancestors, not anyone whose name appears in any record the Fire Mages keep. The stones are old in a way that makes the monastery look new. When the earthquakes started, the Water Mages came north and started digging. They found something. They have not said what.
The camp they set up is quiet and deliberately hard to find. Saturas does not encourage visitors.
