Stone Guardian
Stone guardians are beings of solid rock originating from the fallen civilization of Jharkendar. Their bodies consist entirely of stone, are fairly flat with a round head, and appear almost decorative when at rest – but as soon as anyone approaches or does something they do not tolerate, they attack immediately. Their awakening was triggered by a powerful spell that kept the Temple of Adanos sealed. When Raven desecrated the temple by hurling unholy incantations against the magically sealed gate, the guardians awoke and caused the earthquakes in the island's northeast. The Water Mages encountered these beings during their excavations at the ancient ruins and had to destroy them. Cronos was tasked with researching their nature – he recognized their magical origin but could not determine their driving force. Beyond the portal temple, the stone guardians also watched over the stone circles at Lobart's Farm, Sekob's Farm, and in the northern forest of Khorinis, where they protected the hidden fragments of the ornament ring. At Lobart's farm, farmhands accidentally activated a mechanism and awakened a guardian that the paladins had to destroy. In Jharkendar they were found in the portal temple, the House of the Healers, the tomb of the high priest Khardimon, the scholars' library, and the Temple of Adanos. With the death of Raven, all stone guardians were destroyed and the earthquakes ceased.
