Lizard

Lizards are large quadrupedal reptiles with leathery skin found on the island of Khorinis, the mainland, and the southern islands. Their skin color varies by location – yellowish-brown within the Barrier, green with yellow scales after the fall of the Barrier, and greenish-yellow with a dark red crest on the mainland. They inhabit coastlines, swamp regions such as the swamp of Jharkendar, smaller valleys, and even caves. They can also be spotted in the vast deserts of Varant. In the Valley of Khorinis and the Valley of Mines they are widespread. Their more dangerous subspecies is the fire lizard, which possesses the breath of fire and is recognizable by its large red crest running from head to tail. The orcs of Khorinis call the fire lizard "fire reptile." In the Valley of Mines, fire lizards were found near the volcano. Claws and hide can be extracted from lizards as trophies. The flame tongue of the fire lizard is a particularly precious trophy on Khorinis – required for crafting the Great Fire Storm and Rain Of Fire runes. The orcs of Khorinis also seek the flame tongue – called KROTAHK in the orcish language – as it is used in the creation of the Ulu-Mulu. An unwary traveler wounded by a lizard will suffer poisoning from its venomous tongue.
