Field Raider

Field raiders are large insects found only on the island of Khorinis, increasingly becoming a plague on the farmers' fields and in the forests of the valley – hence also called pest beetles. They devour the harvest and eat everything they can get, even the shoes still on a farmhand's feet. They rarely attack on their own, but rush to help a fellow raider under attack – and with their powerful pincers, deeply rooted in their skulls, they can tear a human's arm off in a single bite. Like all land insects, they are afraid of water. On one of the large fields in front of Onar's Farm lies a nest where they dragged the farmers they killed. Onar was so furious he docked his mercenaries' pay for a week – Lee then tasked the mercenary Fester with clearing out the nest alone. At Lobart's Farm, Lord Andre sent a militia soldier to eliminate the beetles and secure the continued sale of turnips to the city. Vino at Lobart's Farm was so terrified of the creatures that he couldn't sleep soundly after one gnawed at his shoe. After the fall of the Barrier, field raiders were also sighted in the Valley of Mines at the pass and near Cavalorn's hut. Their pincers can be extracted as trophies with some effort.
