Demon

Demons are powerful beings from the underworld and rank among the strongest servants of the god Beliar. They appear in various forms: lesser demons have scaly, reddish-yellow skin, two broad arms, and wings, move by flying, and during the time of the Barrier were found only in the Temple of the Sleeper in the Valley of Mines. Demon lords are broader and more powerful, with dark brown skin, and can only be defeated by weapons dealing magic or fire damage. The larger demons walk on two legs, bear horns on their heads, and wield demon swords rivaling the strength of ore weapons. The most powerful known form is the archdemon – the Sleeper, an ancient being who warped the Barrier, cursed his temple's workers into undeath, and founded the Brotherhood of the Sleeper through visions. Xardas used demons as servants – one guarded his golem puzzle in the orc territory, another interrogated a dying orc warrior. After the fall of the Barrier, demons could be found in few places on Khorinis: in Xardas' abandoned tower in the Valley of Mines, in the mountain fortress, in the Tower of Xardas in the Valley of Khorinis, in the secret library beneath the monastery, and in Jharkendar. Powerful Fire Mages and orc shamans can summon demons using the spell of the fifth circle. A lesser demon or demon lord's heart can be extracted – an ingredient for powerful summoning runes.
